Antelope Island in Northern Utah, is home to the third largest bison herd in America. The Bison on Antelope Island are thought to be one of the genetically purest herds in the country. Antelope Island represents the largest island within the Great Salt Lake, covering an area of 42 square miles. Antelope Island officially became a state park in 1981. It is approximately fifty miles north of Salt Lake City and is accessible via a seven mile Causeway. It is a spectacular place to view wildlife and incredible desert scenery.
